Join NSBE Memphis Professionals for an interactive discussion on the NSBE Graduate 10K By 2025 Initiative at 6:00PM on April 10th, 2018 at International Paper, LL203.
The statistics surrounding the performance of African Americans in science and mathematics is startling. By 4th grade, some students may already be too far behind to successfully pursue engineering as a major or career! The percentage of African Americans among U.S. engineering bachelor’s degree recipients has been declining for more than a decade.
But the core mission of NSBE is to “increase the number of black engineers.” So the Society decided in 2015 to launch the #NSBE2025 Campaign with a goal to have the U.S. produce 10,000 African American engineering bachelor’s degree recipients annually by 2025, up from the current number of 3,620. Our meeting will dive deep into the Initiative, progress made by the Society since 2015, and we formulate a plan to take action in our city to increase minority STEM participation to locally achieve #NSBE2025.
