We are NSBE Memphis.
Who We Are
We are the technical professionals, engineers, scientists, educators, and technologists in industry. Our diverse group of talented professionals includes entry level new graduates, mid-level professionals, managers, and entrepreneurs. Our chapter is home to dozens of professionals from all over the Shelby County region in various sectors and at different stages of their career. The NSBE Memphis Executive Board develops and executes programming that enhances technology awareness, career development, networking opportunities, and encourages youth scholastic achievement. There are always opportunities to build lifelong relationships with members of our organization.

The Memphis Professionals Pre-Collegiate Initiative (PCI) Committee works to develop technical content, identify professional speakers, and guide the mentoring component for our middle and high school students. If you are interested in volunteering with the NSBE Jr. program, please email the Pre-Collegiate Initiative Chair at jr@nsbememphis.org.
Professional Development
Our vision is to develop and impact our active NSBE professional members to succeed as future corporate leaders and technical industry experts. This is accomplished with valuable workshops, panels and seminars. Make a suggestion to programs@nsbememphis.org
Community Service
We seek to help our members accomplish their goals to be strong stewards in their communities. Every year, we offer countless youth mentoring opportunities for our members. We also raise important funds for technical learning through our A Walk For Education fundraiser.
Networking
Our network of technical professionals is a small but mighty one. Active members in our NSBE Memphis chapter are afforded an opportunity to connect with industry professionals all over the world - all with the ability to help take your career to new heights.
Why We’re Here
[dropcap style="color:#ffffff; background:rgb(0, 153, 102);"]1[/dropcap]The future of engineering depends on diversity. In March 2015, the National Executive Board enacted a 10-Year Strategic Plan to graduate 10,000 African American bachelor's degree candidates per year in engineering by 2025. We support the Strategic Plan by engaging in programs to expand the pipeline, recruit and retain minority students in engineering, and expanding networking support.
[dropcap style="color:#ffffff; background:rgb(0, 153, 102);"]2[/dropcap] Our industry is always evolving. NSBE offers its members leadership training, professional development, mentoring opportunities, career placement services and more. We develop and execute programming that enhances technology awareness, career development and more to ensure optimal success within the industry for each and every one of our members.
[dropcap style="color:#ffffff; background:rgb(0, 153, 102);"]3[/dropcap] We're rare.... very rare. Only 5% of the black US population works in science and engineering. As technical professionals, we desire and deserve a network of associates whose industry experiences reflect our own and whose connections may benefit our career goals. Through our many networking events, members of NSBE Memphis are able to establish valuable personal relationships.
